Kyle Harper's Ironman Lake Placid Fundraiser
SSG Michael Hullender was killed in Iraq on April 28, 2007. The day before he died he and I had chosen our wedding location and date, June 21, 2008 in Lake Placid, NY. Over 8 years after his death, I'm going back to Lake Placid to do something for him and with him - Ironman Lake Placid.
On July 24th I will swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and then run 26.2 miles in honor of Mike and to celebrate in Lake Placid. I never got to have the elation of walking down the aisle to him in Lake Placid, but I think running down the olympic oval after completing 140.6 miles of athletic activity will be a special, yet very different, moment to celebrate in Lake Placid.
The swim, bike, and run will be a fundraiser for TAPS, which as many of you know, supports families of the fallen. Specifically, this event will help us launch a new program that helps military survivors get into athletic endeavors through the Inner Warriors programs - and has the tagline of #StrongerEveryDay.
Any support you can give is much appreciated, and I can't wait to complete Ironman Lake Placid in honor of Mike!
