Running for the Families of the Fallen
Hi everyone, my name is Tim Wheeler, and on November 2, 2025, I’ll be running the New York City Marathon to raise funds for an amazing organization whose mission resonates strongly with me, TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors).
TAPS provides direct support to families who have been impacted by a death in the military regardless of geography or circumstance.
In addition to honoring all families of fallen service members, I am running the 2025 NYC Marathon in memory of CPT Rob Latham and SSG Stanley Perdomo, two extraordinary soldiers and friends.
Rob Latham served in the Army for 14 years as both a Military Police Officer and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer. We spent four years together in Army ROTC, and after commissioning, Rob continued to be a mentor and close friend.
Stanley Perdomo served for nine years as an Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne and as a U.S. Army Drill Sergeant. He was one of the finest Infantry NCOs I had the honor to serve with. He was my Squad Leader for two years and someone I deeply respected and trusted.
Rob and Stanley were both devoted fathers, fierce athletes, and compassionate leaders who made everyone around them better. It is a privilege to run in their memory and to raise money for TAPS, an organization that stands beside the families our fallen heroes leave behind.
The funds I raise will flow directly into TAPS programming which supports these families through an amazing network of resources, seminars and publications. TAPS provides these services at no charge to survivors from all branches of the service, including Reserves and National Guard. TAPS’ programs and services are available not only for immediate family, but also for extended family and friends. Please help me honor our fallen heroes by supporting me in this effort. No donation is too big or too small.
Thank you!
