On October 28, 2018 our team will be participating in the 43rd Annual Marine Corps Marathon 10K in support of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and in memory of Sgt. Owen Lennon, which is the reason for the name. Owen was very much in love with his Polo collection, also known as his "horsepower."
There are many reasons that I decided this was the organization to build a team with and the most important was that after our terrible loss, TAPS had been there for me and the Lennon family. They have directly provided us with the resources and tools to work through our grief at completely no charge to us. It feels only appropriate that I try giving back. Every time I have asked, I have never been told "No." And for that I am grateful.
TAPS provides direct support to families who have been impacted by a death in the military regardless of geography or circumstance.
The funds we will raise will flow directly into TAPS programming which supports these families through an amazing network of resources, seminars and publications. TAPS provides these services at no charge to survivors from all branches of the service, including Reserves and National Guard. TAPS’ programs and services are available not only for immediate family, but also for extended family and friends. Please consider helping us honor our fallen heroes by supporting me in this effort. No donation is too big or too small. Or even consider joining the team!
