Welcome to Martin's Personal Page!
Hi everyone, my name is Martin Renteria and this October, I will be participating in the Annual Marine Corps Marathon Events in support of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). TAPS provides direct support to families who have been impacted by a death in the military regardless of geography or circumstance.
I am running this race in honor of 2 soldiers, the first is SGT David “Doc” Almazan. David was an Army Combat Medic who served on multiple deployments to Iraq. David’s steadfast courage, hardworking personality, and initiative was invaluable to his unit, while his loving personality and infectious smile was beloved to his family. He continues to be a role model to those he served with and to myself as well and his spirit and memory remain ever present. I’ve had the privilege of learning so much about his life and have seen the impact he has had and continues to have on others. I have felt a special bond with him for a long time and I hope to honor him not only on race day but everyday as well.
The second soldier I will be running for is SPC Alejandro Martinez. Martinez and I served together for the past 5 years in the army national guard in Southern California. He was always good for a laugh, his genuine personality and humor could lighten any mood. He could make friends with just about anyone. He wouldn’t let his easy going personality fool you either, he knew how to flip the switch and get after it when it was time to work. Martinez was a hard worker and good friend, and was dedicated to a life of service.
The funds I raise will flow directly into TAPS programming which supports these families through an amazing network of resources, seminars and publications. TAPS provides these services at no charge to survivors from all branches of the service, including Reserves and National Guard. TAPS’ programs and services are available not only for immediate family, but also for extended family and friends. Please help me honor our fallen heroes by supporting me in this effort. No donation is too big or too small.
Thank you!
