Friends are Never Forgotten
First, thank you for taking a moment to open my page. If you made it this far, you are either already familiar with the TAPS program, a friend of Erin's, or a friend of mine.
Thirteen years ago on the 10th of April, I lost a close friend, West Point classmate, and fellow aviator. Erin Springsteen was a vivacious, caring, and funny person. There is not a day that passes that I don't think of her. As much as the loss tore me apart, I cannot imagine the loss that her family experienced.
On October 22, 2017, I will be participating in the 42nd Annual Marine Corps Marathon Events in honor of Erin and her family as part of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) team. TAPS provides direct support to families who have been impacted by a death in the military regardless of geography or circumstance. This program is near to my heart because it takes care of families where other programs fall short.
I would like your support in two ways. First, on the 22nd of October commit to walking or running 2.26 miles in honor of the surviving families. Please let me know who you are honoring. Secondly, I would like to ask you to make a small donation to an organization that takes care of families in their time of need. No donation is too small and small donations add up!
Please know that any funds donated will flow directly into TAPS programming. I paid for the run entry and all travel associated costs.
TAPS provides services at no charge to survivors from all branches of the service, including Reserves and National Guard. Please help me honor our fallen heroes by supporting the families they left behind.
Thank you for your support!
