As I approach my 40th birthday in 2026, my wife reminded me of a personal goal I’d set: to run my first marathon. The challenge alone is exciting—but what makes this journey truly meaningful is the opportunity to run in support of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS).

TAPS is an extraordinary organization that provides compassionate care and critical resources to families grieving the loss of a military loved one—regardless of where, when, or how the loss occurred. Their support reaches across all branches of service, including the Reserves and National Guard, and extends to immediate family, extended relatives, and close friends.

On October 25th, I’ll be running the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., not just for myself, but for the families TAPS serves every day. In supporting Veterans for the past 20 years, I've seen the impact organization like TAPS can have on families. Every dollar we raise goes directly to fund grief counseling, survivor seminars, peer support, and so much more—all at no cost to those who need it most.
