What is the mission of Team TAPS?

Team TAPS is about celebrating the lives of our heroes! When you join our team you not only get to challenge yourself with fitness goals but you do so in honor of the nation’s fallen heroes and for the purpose of supporting the loved ones they left behind. Team TAPS raises awareness and funds to benefit Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) programs helping surviving military families. I have never run for TAPS or with Team TAPS. What are the fundraising requirements?

The first requirement is FUN-raising! For these events, we do not have a required fundraising amount. However, we would love for you to try your best and raise at least $400 for this event, but please don’t stop there! Remember, ALL funds raised go directly to support the programs and services that TAPS provides to the families of nation’s fallen heroes.

How do I register to participate with TAPS?

Register here! There are two steps you must take! First, you must register and pay for your racing entry at the event of your choice's website.(Or select an event you would like to personally do in honor of your fallen hero.) Second, create your TAPS fundraising website at: http://team.taps.org/teamtaps2020. There is not a registration fee to register with TAPS. All those who raise $200 or more will receive a Team TAPS signature singlet/jersey or tee. All those raise $400 or more will receive a Team TAPS commemorative medal.

I do not have a personal fallen hero to honor in my run. Is running in memory of a fallen hero required? If I do wish to run in memory of a fallen hero, what do I do?

Running in memory of a fallen hero is not required. If you would like to run in memory of a fallen hero and be connected with the fallen hero’s family, please select that option when you register. Once you have registered, we will connect you with one of our surviving military families. We will send you information on your fallen hero and the family. Please contact the family via email to introduce yourself and acknowledge how honored you are to run for their beloved fallen hero. We provide a photo for you to wear on the back of Team TAPS running singlet so that you can proudly show everyone who you are honoring. This is truly a rewarding outreach!

How does Team TAPS fundraising website work?

The Team TAPS fundraising website is the foundation of your fundraising campaign. It is a great tool to use when asking friends and families for donations. You can upload your email address books to the site and send out emails using one of our templates or create your own personal templates. It is also a great way to keep track of your donors and donations. You can personalize your individual and team webpages with your own text and add a special photo to your site. Many of our runners like to post a photo of their fallen hero to show their donors who they will be honoring in their run. You can also set up a Facebook Fundraiser which will integrate onto personal fundraising website.
